Effects of Low Temperature and GA, Treatment on the Dormancy Breaking of Cypripedium macranthum Native to Korea

Abstract

|
|
Low temperature and GA₃ were assessed to investigate the dormancy breaking and the growth of Cypripeduim macranthum native to Korea. The rate of shoot sprouting became 80% at 5℃ for 45 days and 100% for 60 days, and the shoot sprouting reached 80% with soaking treatment of 100 ㎎·L^(-1) GA₃. However, dormancy was not broken under urnreated control. Low temperature treatment at 5℃ for 45 days after over 50 ㎎·L^(-1) GA₃ application showed 100% of bud dormancy breaking, promoted plant height and shortened days to sprouting. Low temperature and GA₃ affected markedly on the dormancy breaking of the Cypripedium plant.
